It is truly with great sadness that the SA Capital Equipment Export Council announces the passing of one of its founder members and director Christiaan “Chris” Frederik Beyers.
Chris Beyers passed away in July 2022 at the age of 74, at his home in Pretoria
His battle with cancer in recent times showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Chris came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Chris’s career as we know it has been an incredible journey filled with his passion and commitment for his work.
From January 1997 to September 2012, Chris filled the position of Deputy Director Capital Equipment and Allied Services for the then dti. He also served as Foreign Economic Representative in Abidjan Côte d’Ivoire, Rome Italy, Marseilles & Paris France. He gained his bachelor’s degree in Business/Managerial Economics at the University of Stellenbosch.
As a founder member and pillar of the SA Capital Equipment Export Council, Chris was seconded to the Board of SACEEC during the year 2000. In 2013 on retiring from the dtic, SACEEC approached Chris to join the Board of SACEEC as a director. Since then, Chris has been very much involved in the development of the cluster program as well as being part of other programs and initiatives.
Chris Beyers will be missed but not forgotten.
