Industry Standards exposure to scholars and teachers alike

On Thursday 17 August over 60 mechanical learners from Fumana Comprehensive School enjoyed another company site visit. They were hosted by one of the following companies, AVK through the Premier Valves Group , Paltech Technologies, Dual Valves and GroheDawn Water Technologies, and was enjoyed by all.

Exposure to the daily running of a manufacturing facility allows the learners to clearly understand what will be expected from them after matric, from a health and safely point of view, job expectations and work environment. “It is always a pleasure to see and speak to the learners after this type of day as their eyes sparkle at realising the possibilities post matric.” says Lara Slogrove, MD of D3.

It was with equal excitement that the teachers, principals and HOD’s from the various technical high schools who are part of the SACEEC project, namely Fumana Comprehensive, Hans Moore Technical High, Rhodesfield Technical High and Springs Technical High all enjoyed an open day at Denel Training Academy (DTA) on Friday 18 August which exposed them to a top notch, well run tertiary training institute that produces top quality artisans.

“The technical high schools are very eager to get their school workshops aligned with the same quality and standards at the DTA, and we can’t wait to assist with the planning” says Lara Slogrove.

We would like to thank The SACEEC and all their members as well as the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency for making this project grow from strength to strength.
